ARTIST PROFILE

British artist Talya Brookman has dedicated herself to artistic practice throughout her life. Raised in a large nomadic family that relocated between London, Sydney, and Los Angeles, she encountered art as a vital means of exploration and stability. After studying Fine Art at the Pratt Institute in New York, Brookman settled in Sydney in 2009, where she has since developed a focused and distinctive artistic voice.

Brookman delves into the intricate dynamics of colour and form through abstract landscapes, internal views and aerial perspectives that echo nature’s fractal patterns. The recurring motifs found in leaves, rivers, veins, roots, and even the structures of our cells serve as poignant reminders of our place within a vast, interconnected ecosystem. Brookman’s work evokes recognition and introspection, celebrating the delicate balance between chaos and order inherent in existence.

Specializing in large-scale oil, acrylic, and ink on canvas, Brookman’s creative process begins with a fluid application of colour that is meticulously refined into striking, cohesive forms. Her paintings resonate with fractal patterns that transcend disparate ecosystems, reflecting her commitment to exploring the natural order.
